Blepharoplasty is a type of cosmetic surgery which is usually performed on eyelids. This is done to get rid of the excess fat in the upper eye lid and in the eye bags. Removing excess fat from eyelid is necessary because fat accumulation in this area will make you look tired and older than your age.
Procedure
Blepharoplasty is usually executed through external incisions made along the natural skin lines of the eyelids. The incision is made on the creases of the upper lids and below the lashes of the lower lids. Incisions can be made from the inner surface of the lower eyelid this allows removal of fat from lower eyelid without an externally visible scar. But it does not allow excess skin to be removed.
Length
The Blepharoplasty or Eyelid surgery is a small surgery and completes in about 1 to 3 hours.
Risks
All the surgeries may have some or the other difficulty. It can have bleeding and swelling at the corners. You may have double or blurred vision for sometime. You may even have problem in pulling down the lower lids.
Side effects
After effects of this surgery can be temporary discomfort in vision and the itching in the eyes. The light sensitivity will remain for few days. The temporary dryness of the eyes will also remain for few days. It is advisable to consult your surgeon before and after the Blepharoplasty surgery.
