Introduction
This is a cosmetic surgery procedure is applied to give a more youthful appearance to a person. It is also known as Rhytidectomy. It usually involves the elimination of excess facial skin, with or without the tightening of underlying tissues, and the redraping of the skin on the patient's face and neck. The first facelift was performed in 1901. This technique not only helps in removing wrinkles but also make you look more young and beautiful.
Procedure
In the traditional facelift surgery, an incision is made in front of the ear which extends up into the hairline. After the skin incision is done, the skin is separated from the deeper tissues with a scalpel or scissors over the cheeks and neck. The deeper tissues can be tightened with sutures, at this point. The excess skin is then removed, and the skin incisions are closed with sutures and staples.
Length
This surgery takes several hours depending upon the condition of the face. Sometimes various steps are also arranged for this particular surgery.
Risks
There are not much risks involved in this surgery. But sometimes it can cause constraint to the facial nerves which can be dangerous. The excessive bleeding and scars can be seen in the facial skin. To avoid these it is advisable to consult your doctor before and after the surgery.
Side effects
Temporary swelling, dryness in the skin, numbness can be experienced after the surgery. Muscle tightening and light injuries can also be felt in the earlier days but that heals with the after surgery medicines and proper care of the skin.
