Introduction

Dental implant is an artificial tooth that is placed in the jaw of the patient to fix the replacement tooth or the bridge. It replaces the teeth without affecting the bordering teeth. It supports the bridge and denture making it more secure. This implant device is made if titanium and is surgically inserted into the bone.

The procedure depends on the condition of the patient's teeth structure. In case of a single tooth replacement, one implant and a crown replaces both the tooth and the root. In case where several missing teeth are to be implanted, there are implant supported bridges. In other case, there is sinus augmentation and ridge modification is done to make the implants successful.

It totally depends on the condition and needs of the patient. There is no fixed timings for the surgery.

Very minimal risk or no risk is involved in this type of surgery. Pain killers can used to minimize this discomfort. Dental Implants can last till 20 to 25 years if a person takes proper care.
